The terms you’ll run into, without the jargon.
- RTP
- Return to player — the share of total wagers a game is designed to return over the long run.
- House edge
- The operator’s built-in advantage; equal to 100% minus RTP.
- Volatility / variance
- How a game pays out — low = frequent small wins, high = rare larger wins.
- RNG
- Random number generator — the software that decides each outcome.
- Payline
- A pattern across the reels that pays when matching symbols land on it.
- Wagering requirement
- How many times a bonus must be wagered before winnings can be withdrawn.
- Max bet
- The largest stake allowed, sometimes restricted while a bonus is active.
- KYC
- Know your customer — identity checks operators must run, usually before withdrawal.
- Self-exclusion
- A tool to block yourself from an operator (or all operators) for a set period.
- Deposit limit
- A cap you set on how much you can deposit over a chosen period.
